• The main value of the MTL Cup is cooperation between clubs and coaches in the greater Montreal area for the good of volleyball. It is in this spirit that we invite you to our mid-season tournament, where we hope there will be a strong sense of collegiality between teams and coaches.

• The goal is to discover rules that are used in the United States, among other places, to speed up the game (less delay), to improve the quality of play, and to give more players the chance to play during a set with fewer restrictions for coaches. We also want to play as many meaningful matches as possible during the weekend, without any delays. It is certain that you will sometimes find yourself a little out of your comfort zone.

After your match, we ask you to quickly leave the court to make way for the next teams. Note that timeouts (only 30 seconds) are faster than usual. We also want to give several teams the chance to play for a medal during the tournament and give your athletes important matches. This is why we will separate the teams into several divisions for the second day.

• 15 substitutions per set with unlimited substitutions, so you can substitute the same 2 players 15 times if you want.
• 2 timeouts of 30 seconds per set.
• No bench management (e.g., 2 coaches can be standing).
• The libero is allowed in all categories.
• You can have 2 liberos dressed (in a different colored jersey than the rest of the team) per set. Only one on the court at a time.
• One of the Liberos can serve for one of the players they replace. If the libero serves, they must do so for the same player during a set.

For the girls, there will be a tournament for U13F, U14F, U15F, U16F, U17F, U18F.

For the boys, there will be a tournament for U14M, U16M, U18M.

No, access to all sites is free for spectators.

During the group/pool stages, each team will have a work schedule and will need to provide scorers, line judges, and a second referee.

During the knockout stages, the teams playing will be responsible for providing one scorer per team, as well as a line judge.

• During a pool, you must work 1 or 2 games, depending on your schedule.
• While working, you must provide 5 athletes per set, and a coach or adult must be at the table or next to the court throughout the entire match.
• The 5 athletes working will fill the following roles: one 2nd referee, 2 line judges, one scorer, and one person to track points.
• During the playoff round, each team must provide one scorer + 1 line judge for their own match.

• The first matches on Saturday will be at 8:30 AM and sites will open between 7:30 AM and 7:45 AM.
• The first matches on Sunday will be at 9:00 AM and sites will open between 8:00 AM and 8:15 AM.

Schedules will be available approximately 1 month before the start of the tournament.

The organizing committee guarantees a minimum of 6 games per team over the two days of competition.

All pool play matches are two sets to 25 points.

All playoff matches will be best 2 of 3 sets (3rd sets to 15 points).

The top three positions in Division 1 will receive medals, as will the winning and finalist teams in the other divisions.

Yes, teams must bring their own balls; the organizing committee will not provide any.

Normally, due to the size of the tournament, we cannot provide a therapist service. There will be ice at each site in case of injury.

No, we do not operate on a "stay and play" basis, but we appreciate it if you support our partner hotels.
